Born on the Ilse of Man, Archibald Knox went to London after his studies. He became a teacher and one of the most famous designer for Liberty & Co., especially for the very successful Cymric silver and Tudric pewter. However he also used more precious materials such as turquoise, shagreen and enamel. His designs were frequently inspired by Celtic motifs with interlaced patterns, crosses and knots. He founded with his students the Knox Guild of Crafts and Design. His silver pieces are have become quite rare and very popular with important private collections and international museums.
