Gustave Serrurier-Bovy

Son of a cabinet maker and born in Liege, Gustave Serrurier discovered the philosophy of John Ruskin and William Morris during his journey in London in 1884. He founded the firm Serrurier-Bovy, and then Serrurier & Co with the help of René Dulong. They produced furnitures combining serial production and craftsmanship. The influence of René Dulong can be see in the creation of small fancy furniture and the use of brass. Gustave Serrurier-Bovy was a supporter of « The Art for everyone ».
