Henry Van de Velde
Made by Reinhold Hanke, Höhr, Germany
Provenance
British private collection - Woolley & Wallis, Salisbury, UK, 1st June 2007, lot 853 - Collection of Jürgen Schimanski, Germany, acquired at the above sale, until 2020.
Exhibitions
An identical vase was presented in the German section at the 1904 International Exhibition in Saint Louis, MO. Given the fact that only three of the sixteen vases listed above are gray with cobalt-blue decoration (Westerwald, Teemuseum and Oscar Graf Gallery), there is a possibility that the vase offered here was the example shown in 1904.
