Provenance

Made for the altar of Saint-François-Xavier College Chapel (built in 1873), Vannes, France - In situ in the Chapel from 1876 to the 1960’s - Belgian Art Market, Leuven, 1960’s - Collection of Willy Brouwers, Leuven, acquired from the above, ca. 1965-1970 - Thence by descent until 2023 - Belgian art market 2023, acquired by Paul Shutler, UK - Oscar Graf Gallery, Paris, 2024.

Exhibitions

An identical example, also lacking a pricket spike, was exhibited by Poussielgue-Rusand at the 1867 Paris World Fair.
